QUICK ANSWER

Start with the surface, then match coating and finish.

Use shorter nap on smooth surfaces, medium nap for common walls and light texture, and longer nap for rough or deep profiles. Then select microfiber, woven, polyester or compatible foam according to loading, release, durability, finish and price position.

For buyers:

Nap labels alone are not enough. Record pile height, fabric construction, density, backing, core diameter, bonding, edge treatment and frame fit in the approved specification.

“Short,” “medium” and “long” are selection categories, not universal dimensions. Inch and metric market standards differ, so the final quotation should state the measured pile height.
